At this year’s Republic Day parade, the Indian Army is all set to showcase only Made in India weapons on January 26, a statement by the army stated. The decision was taken in an attempt to provide a much-needed push to the centre’s 'Make in India' initiative.


This year, India will celebrate its 74th Republic Day. As a part of the Republic Day parade, the 'Made in India' weapon systems to be showcased this year will include, Akash air defence missiles, K-9 Vajra howitzers, MBT Arjun, BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, Nag anti-tank guided missiles, the Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles among others, several reports have confirmed.



Major General Bhavnish Kumar told media that several indigenous weapon systems will be seen during this year's Republic Day parade and added that the Indian Army has decided to showcase these under the government’s 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' push.


Rehearsal for this year’s Republic Day Parade has already begun at Kartavya Path in Delhi. Personnel from the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, and Paramilitary forces took part in the rehearsals, which was held on Monday at 10.30 am. A total of 23 tableaux from 17 states and several other departments of the government also participated in the rehearsals.

This year’s Republic Day chief guest will be Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and this would be the first time that the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt will be a part of the celebrations, a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs stated.
