Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is gearing up for a busy start to the new year. The company is reportedly planning to launch the Redmi Note 15 smartphone and the Redmi Pad 2 Pro tablet in India in the first week of January. As per reports, the new 5G phone targets the lower mid-budget segment with a 108-megapixel camera and a large 5520mAh battery, while the tablet focuses on a bigger screen and productivity features.

The launch comes as Redmi looks to build on the success of its Note series and Pad lineup. While the Redmi Note 15 has already debuted in China, the Indian version will come with different specifications and software tweaks. Leaks and official teasers have revealed several key details ahead of the launch.

Redmi Note 15: Expected price and variants

As per leaks, the Redmi Note 15 will be launched in India with 8GB RAM and two storage options. The 128GB variant could be priced at ₹22,999, while the 256GB variant may cost ₹24,999.


For comparison, the Redmi Note 14 was launched at ₹19,999 for the 8GB+128GB version and ₹21,999 for the 8GB+256GB version.

Redmi Note 15: Design

The Redmi Note 15 will come with an IP66 rating, offering protection against light water splashes. At just 7.35mm thick, the phone is also positioned as a slim and sleek device in its category.

Redmi Note 15: Camera

The Redmi Note 15 will feature a dual rear camera setup with an LED flash. The phone will feature a 108-megapixel primary sensor that supports 4K video recording with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

It will also offer multifocal portrait and dynamic shots. Details of the secondary camera are yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to be an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. On the front, it may have a 20-megapixel camera.

Redmi Note 15 Performance

The smartphone will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 octa-core processor, built on a 4nm process. The chipset can clock speeds of up to 2.4GHz and promises better efficiency and smoother performance. Redmi claims the phone can deliver 48 months of lag-free performance. The Redmi Note 15 will run on Xiaomi Hyper OS 2.

The device will feature a 6.77-inch Full HD+ curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 2392 x 1080 pixels that will support a 120Hz refresh rate, offering a peak brightness of 3200 nits.

The phone also includes Hydro Touch 2.0, allowing smooth touch response even with wet hands. The screen will also have an in-display fingerprint sensor. Redmi has stated that the screen is TUV Triple Eye Care certified, aimed at reducing eye strain during long usage.

Redimi Note 15 Battery

The Redmi Note 15 will have a 5520mAh battery, that is claimed to last up to 1.6 days on a full charge and offers five years of battery health. The phone wll support 45W fast charging.

Redmi launched the Redmi Pad 2 with 8GB RAM, a 9000mAh battery, and an 11-inch display in June this year. Now, the company is preparing to bring an upgraded version to India.

Along with the tablet, Redmi is expected to introduce the Redmi Smart Pen and the Redmi Pad 2 Pro keyboard. The tablet’s price is likely to fall between ₹20,000 and ₹25,000. A Wi-Fi-only version and a Redmi Pad 2 Pro 5G variant are both expected.

Redmi Pad 2 Pro tablet: Display

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro will feature a 12.1-inch screen, which the company is calling the world’s largest screen tablet. It will come with a QHD+ resolution display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is said to support Dolby Vision.

Redmi Pad 2 Pro tablet: Performance

The tablet has already launched globally, and the Indian version is expected to carry similar specifications. It runs on Android-based Hyper OS 2 and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 octa-core chipset. Built on a 4nm process, the processor can reach clock speeds of up to 2.8GHz.

Redmi Pad 2 Pro tablet: Camera

In the global market, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro features a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Both cameras support 1080p video recording at 30fps. The tablet also includes Dolby Atmos quad speakers, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.4.

Redmi Pad 2 Pro tablet: Power backup

The Indian model is expected to retain the 12000mAh battery seen in the global version. It supports 33W fast charging and also offers 27W reverse charging, allowing users to charge other devices such as smartphones, earbuds, or smartwatches.

With a phone focused on camera power and battery life, and a tablet aiming at big screens and productivity, Redmi appears ready to make some noise in early 2025. All eyes will now be on January 6 to see how these devices are finally priced and positioned for Indian buyers.
