Ravichandran Ashwin leads India to win against Bangladesh in Test match; Gavaskar lauds Ashwin for coping with pressure

India defeated Bangladesh in Test match on December 25 by 3 wickets and clinched the series by 2-0. Sunil Gavaskar lauded Ravichandran Ashwin for being resilient under immense pressure and gaining memorable victory.

Ravichandran Ashwin led India to victory by 3 wickets in the second Test match on December 25. Ashwin top-scored with 42 runs in the match and also became ‘Player of the match’. Sunil Gavaskar, former captain lauded Ashwin’s performance and his composure and resilience in coping with the stress.

He further praised both Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer for scoring an unbeaten score of 71 runs to achieve the victory in partnership.

Ashwin took 6 wickets in the match and scored 54 runs. He scored the highest number of runs in the fourth innings of the match by scoring 42. While Iyer and Ashwin scored 71 runs in partnership for the 8th wicket that helped India win the Test match by a total of 145 runs.


Ashwin walked into the match when India had scored only 74/7 runs with Axar Patel who left after scoring 34 off 69 balls. Ashwin along with Iyer helped clinch the victory from this stage of the match.

This victory has brought India closer to the World Test Championship final. The match was held in Mirpur’s Sher E Bangla National Stadium in Bangladesh.
