Rare ‘orange bat’, endangered ‘Indian wolf’ gets spotted in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district

An ‘Orange Bat’ belonging to a rare species was seen in Kanger Ghati National Park in the forest area of Chhattisgarh's Bastar district. An endangered Indian Wolf species was also spotted in the region, and photos of these unique species have gone viral on the internet.

Significantly, the Wildlife Protection Act (WPA), 1972 lists the Indian Wolf as a Schedule I species because of its exceedingly low population. The discovery of wolves in the region is regarded as a positive development as forest officials step up their efforts to protect animals.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature lists the orange bat as extremely endangered.



According to the Kanger Ghati National Park Director, Ganveer Dharamsheel, the Kanger Ghati National Park and the Indravati Tiger Reserve now have more access for the forest department, in the Naxal-Prone parts of the Bastar district. Forest management has also set cameras in the interior of the forest to record pictures and videos of endangered animal species.

The official said that a plan is being developed to safeguard Indian wolves and that it is wonderful to see them thriving in these areas.

Officers from the forest department stay away from certain places in these situations as a major percentage of the forest is controlled by Naxals. The agency is still making every attempt to conserve wild creatures, though. In the past, the Kanger Ghati National Park was home to blind fish, common hill myna, crocodiles, long-mustache cave crickets, and rare otter species.
