The first trailer for Rani Mukerji's upcoming film Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway has been made available online today February 23. The film, which was written by Rahul Handa, Sameer Satija, and Ashima Chibber, is based on the true tale of an Indian couple whose children were taken away from them by Norwegian social services in 2011.

Rani Mukerji portrays the part of the titular character, a mother who defies the authority of the Norwegian government in order to be reunited with her kids.

The preview opens with a shot of Rani Mukerji and her two young children smiling and laughing together in their home. The family relocates to Norway, where they are met with the unexpected challenge of having their children taken away from them because local authorities consider her hand-feeding the infant to be the equivalent of forcible feeding.

Also, the social services do not approve of the youngster sharing a bed with his or her parents. The preview shows a path of misery and grief as Chatterjee strives to get her children back and has to prove herself in court, all while allegations of her being “unstable” build to a higher level.

Celebrities began sharing their thoughts on social media as soon as the trailer was released. Karan Johar posted the video on Instagram, writing, “Hand on heart, this is Rani Mukerji’s best performance to date”. Alia Bhatt also shared the trailer to her Instagram account with the caption, “Weeping! What a powerful trailer”.

Movie is based on True story:

Norwegian social services took custody of two children of Anurup and Sagarika Bhattacharya, an Indian couple living in Norway, in 2011. The parents insisted on a cultural bias against Indians, and they enlisted the help of the foreign ministry in their fight. Following a diplomatic spat between the two countries, Norwegian authorities decided to give custody of two Indian children to their father’s brother, allowing him to return them to India.

However, the parents’ marriage fell apart in the interim, and the mother sought legal redress to regain custody of her children.

Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway will be released on March 17, 2023.
