Diwali brings much-needed hope for Akshay Kumar after a string of big flops. The Abhishek Sharma-directed 'Ram Setu' opened at the theatres on October 24 to a box-office collection of Rs 15 crore +. Before the movie, the year 2022 had not exactly proved fruitful for the superstar, with three of his big-budget releases tanking at the box office. While 'Bachchan Paandey' received some good response early on, it failed to continue that in the longer run. Meanwhile, his other two releases, Raksha Bandhan and Samrat Prithviraj, sank without a trace, despite Akshay’s massive fan following.

Will the early success continue?
A positive indication from Ram Setu’s day one collection is that the film might find favour with a varied audience. The storyline isn't typical of festival releases, nor is the film based on a hit franchise.
