Ram Setu box office collection: Crosses Rs.50cr after first weekend, goes past Thank God
Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu has surpassed Ajay Devgn’s Thank God after the first extended weekend. Both movies were released during Diwali.

The turnout in theatres on Sunday was limited due to India’s game against South Africa. However, Ram Setu managed to make Rs.7.75 crores net. As per media reports, Sunday’s figures took the movie’s gross earnings for the first extended weekend to Rs.55 crores.
The Abhishek Sharma film performed well in Gujarat, earning over Rs. 11 crores from the state. On the other hand, Thank God managed to reach Rs. 26 crores. However, it is important to note that neither movie met Diwali weekend expectations.
The film features Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead and revolves around the “Ram Setu” from the Ramayana. Akshay plays an archaeologist struggling to keep the structure from being destroyed by evil forces. Akshay’s mother, Aruna Bhatia, is the producer of the movie, which was made under the Khiladi actor’s Cape of Good Films production house.
The movie has found itself amid controversy after historian Ashok Kumar Kainth, a Punjabi researcher working in Sri Lanka, claimed that he saw the movie and found Akshay’s character to be based on his life. Ashok Kumar also alleged that his research on his website was used in the movie without his permission.
Meanwhile, Kantara will be replacing Ram Setu and Thank God in some of the multiplexes as the Rishabh Shetty movie continues to enjoy a al run.
