Ram Mandir construction: Shaligram rocks from Nepal to reach Ayodhya on February 2 for Lord Ram’s idol

The rare shaligram stones, which were discovered in the Kali Gandaki river basin in the Muktinath region of Nepal, are said to symbolize Vishnu. Reports said that these stones would be used in the carving of Lord Ram’s idol for the Ram Mandir.

The two precious rocks from Nepal that will be used to carve out and install the idol of Lord Ram in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple will arrive in Ayodhya on February 2.

Prakash Gupta, office manager of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, said that Rajendra Singh Pankaj, national secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, left the Mustang area of Nepal on Wednesday with a shipment of two holy rocks, and he is scheduled to arrive in Ayodhya on Thursday.

He said that two separate trucks will transport these 60 million-year-old Shaligram rocks from Nepal to Ayodhya. The two rocks weigh 14 and 26 tons, respectively, he noted.

Officials stated that the Ram Temple, which is anticipated to be completed by the Makar Sankranti festival in January of next year, would have an idol of Lord Rama in his kid form that was carved from this stone.

Reportedly, the two rocks were discovered in the Kali Gandaki river, not far from Saligrama or Muktinath (the "place of redemption") in Nepal's Mustang province.
