On Ram Navami 2026, the birth day of Lord Ram, Ayodhya Ram Mandir is set for a grand celebration on March 27. Lakhs of devotees are expected to arriving in the temple town. The highlight will be the much-awaited Surya Tilak at exactly 12 PM, when sun rays will fall on the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol for a few minutes. With heavy footfall expected, the temple trust has suspended VIP darshan and installed screens across the city to ensure everyone can witness the moment.

Ram Navami: Ram Mandir Ayodhya Surya Tilak timings?

Surya Tilak is a special ritual performed on Ram Navami, where sunlight is precisely directed to touch the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol at noon. A carefully designed system of mirrors and lenses, developed by Indian scientists, channels sunlight into the sanctum sanctorum at exactly 12:00 PM.

The result is a bright, glowing tilak on the deity’s forehead. The moment lasts for a few minutes but draws massive attention every year. For those who cannot enter the temple premise, live visuals are broadcast on screens across Ayodhya and through news channels.

Ram Mandir temple trust prepares for heavy rush

According to the reports; Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, Gopal Rao said that Ram Navami festivities has already commenced in Ayodhya city. More than one lakh devotees are visiting in the temple to have a glimpse of Ram Lalla. According to him, Surya tilak will coincide with the noon aarti, which will take place at 12 PM. The sun rays will remain on the forehead for about four minutes so people will be able to have a glimpse of Surya Tilak.

To manage crowds, the temple administration has taken multiple steps. Screens have been installed across the city so devotees can watch ceremonies without crowding the sanctum. VIP darshan has been suspended to maintain equal access for all visitors.

The temple will remain open from early morning till late night as devotees queue up for darshan.

Ram Navami 2026

Ram Navami marks the birth of Lord Shri Ram, believed to be born in Ayodhya to King Dashrath and Queen Kaushalya. Devotees see him as the symbol of truth, courage and righteousness.

Across India, people celebrate the day with prayers, bhajans, kirtans and readings of Ramcharitmanas. Many devotees also take a holy dip in the Saryu river before visiting the temple.

Ram Navami 2026 celebrations across Ayodhya

The city is being decorated with lights, flowers, saffron flags, rangoli and earthen diyas. Temples and streets are lit up, giving Ayodhya a festive glow.

Large gatherings are expected as devotees take part in prayers and rituals throughout the day. Many households and temples are organising recitations and devotional singing.

As per Hindu scriptures, King Dashrath performed a yagya to be blessed with children. After consuming the sacred prasad, his queens gave birth to Ram, Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughan.
