Rakesh Bedi responds to Rs 1 crore Dhurandhar bonus claim, says 'account mein toh…'

At 71, veteran actor Rakesh Bedi is suddenly back in the spotlight thanks to the massive success of Dhurandhar 2. But amid all the praise and renewed popularity, one rumour had fans talking, did he really receive a Rs 1 crore bonus from the film’s makers?

Short answer: not at all.

In a video response to NDTV, Rakesh Bedi dismissed the claims in his trademark humorous style.

“Kayi log mujhe ye bata rahe hain ki mujhe production house se Dhurandhar ke baad Rs 1 crore mila hai. Toh bhaiya woh kahan pada hai, kiske ghar mein rakha hai, kiski jeb mein hai, mujhe bata do,” he said.

He added jokingly, “Bata do taaki main jaake le loon kyunki mere account mein toh abhi tak nahin aaya hai.”

Clearly, the actor is as sharp off-screen as he is on it.

Rakesh Bedi didn’t stop there. Continuing in a light-hearted tone, he said: “Mere account mein toh show nahin kar raha hai. Aur agar aa gaya toh main doonga ya shayad na bhi bataaoon… lekin filhaal toh nahin mila hai. Agar aap dilwa sakte ho toh please dilwa do.”

Safe to say, the Rs 1 crore bonus is more fiction than fact, at least for now.

Dhurandhar 2 makes Rakesh Bedi a breakout star again

Despite the bonus rumours being false, there’s no denying that Dhurandhar 2 has given Rakesh Bedi a massive career boost.

His character, Jameel Jamali, a quirky yet cunning politician, has become one of the film’s biggest talking points, especially after that major twist towards the end.

Fans have loved his one-liners like “Bachha hai tu mera”, and the reveal has turned both the character and Bedi into viral sensations.

Ranveer Singh’s big compliment goes viral

In an earlier interview, Rakesh Bedi shared a memorable moment from the sets involving co-star Ranveer Singh.

“Jab mera last day tha… Ranveer ne mic pakad ke bola ki agar film Rs 1,000 crore kamayegi, toh Rs 500 crore Rakesh ji ki wajah se honge,” he recalled.

That’s some serious praise, and fans seem to agree.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar 2 has already crossed Rs 1,119.39 crore in India, making it one of the biggest hits of the year.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features a strong ensemble cast including R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Gaurav Gera, and Danish Pandor.
