Rajasthan teen pacer practises using fishing net, video impresses Rahul Gandhi

He is pacy, he is very accurate, and he seems dedicated. The video of a teen bowling in the makeshift nets of a small village in Rajasthan is going around on the internet, and has impressed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi enough to step in.

In a six-second video tweeted by a senior journalist, the teen is identified as 16-year-old Bharat Singh from Rajsamand district of Rajasthan. A fishing net has been tied to wooden poles to enclose a makeshift pitch in a yard for him to practise his skills.

Bharat can be seen running in vigorously and letting go off the ball at an impressive pace. The ball pitches on a marker he has placed near yorker length and goes on to hit a single stump. Fine accuracy for a non-professional bowling at that pace.


The caption for the video said he would maybe one day make an excellent bowler for India if he receives professional support, and Rahul Gandhi for one agreed with it

"Amazing talent is hidden in every nook and corner of our country, and it is our duty to recognize and promote them. I request @ashokgehlot51 ji, please help this child to make his dream come true," Gandhi posted to Twitter.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot responded to this, tweeting, "Sure, will take it further and will do the needful."
