School holiday declared in 11 districts of Rajasthan as heavy rain lash several parts
Heavy to very heavy rainfall has lashed several parts of Rajasthan over the last 24 hours, with some areas witnessing extreme downpours. A red alert has been issued in parts of the state as water levels continue to rise, causing floods and prompting rescue operations.

Due to the weather situation, school holidays have been declared in 11 districts for Monday and Tuesday. These include:
Jhalawar, Kota, Chittorgarh, Tonk, Bhilwara, Baran, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Salumber, Banswara, and Ajmer.


Which Areas Got the Heaviest Rain?

The Jaipur Meteorological Centre reported that the highest rainfall in East Rajasthan was:
  • 242 mm in Ramganj Mandi (Kota)
  • 235 mm in Jaitura (Bhilwara)
  • In West Rajasthan, Bali in Pali district recorded 88 mm rainfall.

Bhilwara Faces Flood-Like Situation

Bhilwara’s Bijolia area has been witnessing torrential rain for over 15 hours. A video showed a 25-seater boat rowing down a flooded road. Civil defence teams are on the ground, carrying out rescue operations.

Water has risen up to 5 feet on the Eru river bridge in Bhilwara. To manage water levels:
  • 12 gates of the Kota Barrage were opened on Monday
  • 6 gates of the Rana Pratap Sagar Dam in Chittorgarh were opened Sunday night
The Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre Radheshyam Sharma said the monsoon trough has returned to its normal position, now passing through Bikaner and Kota. This shift is causing increased rainfall across the state.

Rain Alerts Issued

  • Red alert: 4 districts
  • Orange alert: 10 districts
  • Yellow alert: 17 districts
Heavy rains are expected to continue in many areas on July 29 and 30. Residents have been advised to stay alert and avoid waterlogged areas.
