The video footage, now widely circulated, shows two individuals riding a motorcycle while firing at stray dogs, leaving their bodies across village streets and fields. A third person, partially visible and riding a second motorcycle, is seen following and filming the act. It remains unclear whether this individual was directly involved in the crime.
Police have identified the accused
Following a preliminary investigation, police identified one of the accused as Shyochand Bavariya, a resident of Dumra village. A case has been registered against him under various sections of the Animal Cruelty Act and the Arms Act.Superintendent of Police, Jhunjhunu, Brijesh Jyoti Upadhyay confirmed the authenticity of the video and said further investigation is underway. “We are aware of the video showing a person shooting at dogs in Kumawas village. Immediate steps were taken to investigate the matter,” Upadhyay stated. Head constable Shubhkaran has been assigned to lead the local inquiry, reported by TOI.
Public demands strict action
The incident has drawn condemnation from animal rights groups and local residents, with many calling for stricter legal measures and stronger enforcement to prevent such acts of cruelty.(With inputs from TOI)
