Raipur police arrest youth for selling cannabis out of ambulance, seize 364 kg drug haul

In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Raipur police have apprehended a young individual for reportedly peddling cannabis in an ambulance, leading to the recovery of a staggering 364 kilograms of psychotropic drugs in the city.

According to City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mayank Gurjar, a police team made a crucial interception late last night, halting an ambulance that raised suspicions. Upon inspection, an astounding amount of cannabis was discovered, marking a major seizure in Raipur's fight against illegal narcotics.

The interception took place within the jurisdiction of the Amanaka police station. The officer overseeing the operation detailed that the haul amounted to over 364 kilograms of cannabis, valued at approximately ₹36 lakh.


The arrested individual, identified as Suraj Khute, a 22-year-old from Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district, was found to be the alleged perpetrator, as confirmed by the CSP.

During the course of the investigation, Khute disclosed procuring the contraband from Odisha and transporting it to Baloda Bazaar. This revelation has sparked further inquiries into the network and its operations.

The arrest and subsequent findings mark a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in Raipur. Investigations are actively continuing to unearth more details regarding the network and those involved in this illicit trade.
