Radhika Apte’s home tour
According to a TOI report, in 2018, Apte featured in Season 2 of Asian Paints’ Where The Heart Is, taking viewers through her Versova residence in Mumbai. She spoke about her journey from being an outsider in the city to gradually making it home while pursuing a career in acting.According to the home tour, Apte's home features high ceilings, natural light, green plants, colourful doors and blend of vintage and contemporary furniture reflected her evolving tastes.
Apte also credited her husband, British avant-garde composer and violist Benedict Taylor, with encouraging her to move to Mumbai and pursue acting.

“Benedict, who's now my husband, gave me the courage because he knew a lot of people in Bombay and said, just let's go to Bombay and try and make this happen,” she said.
She added, “He has a great sense of which house to live in because he looks at the light and he's better at imagining what the house could be turned into. I'm better at turning it into that thing.”
Natural light was among her priorities when choosing a home. “When you wake up, you need to have light in your house. So I always look for houses where there is going to be enough light,” she said.
Radhika Apte’s balcony
Radhika Apte’s Mumbai home features a balcony that has been incorporated into the living space. The actor described it as one of her favourite spots, thanks to the breeze and the opportunity to sit with a cup of tea.“This used to be a balcony which we've taken in. And this is one of my favourite spots because I opened this completely. And there's such a great, lovely breeze that comes in, in spite of it being Bombay,” she said.

The actor also recalled her early years in Mumbai, revealing that she initially shared accommodation and sometimes stayed on other people's sofas while trying to establish herself in the city.
Inspiration behind colours
One of the most distinctive features of Apte’s home was its colourful doors. The idea, she explained, was inspired by a teacher who painted her fans in different colours.“Then my teacher in school used to paint her fans with different colours. Which I still want to do, but I'm still contemplating exactly what colour and when. But instead of that, I started painting my doors with different colours,” Apte said.
She added, “So I have different coloured doors. So if somebody asks me, can I use your loo, I go, purple door. So yeah, I think lots of borrowed ideas.”
The colourful doors complemented the home’s plants, warm furniture and personal mementoes, giving the interiors a character of their own.
For Apte, furniture was not merely about aesthetics. Several pieces in her home carried memories of her family, including items inherited from her grandmother and parents.
“I got some pieces of furniture that belonged to my grandmother, my parents. Small, small pieces like a chair or a stool,” she said.
She also showed a chair that had been specially made and explained its significance to her mother.
“This chair is very special because we got this chair made. This was actually one of the first pieces of furniture that I got made with my own money. Mostly because my mum loves it. She finds it extremely perfect to sit on this and extremely comfortable. It's her spot.”
Another piece reminded her of her grandmother and the memories associated with it.
“As I explained to you that I hold memories and I can't let go of things. And this is something that I never let go. It reminds me of her. The smell of the wood reminds me of her. Sometimes the dust on it reminds me of her."
