Punjab weather: Yellow alert in 7 districts today, heavy rain, lightning likely

Several districts of Punjab are likely to receive rain on Wednesday, September 16, with the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for seven districts. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is possible at some places in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Ferozepur.

Light to moderate rain has also been forecast across the state, with rainfall expected at varying intensities in several districts.

Rain forecast across Punjab today

Light to moderate rain is likely at many places in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Rupnagar and SAS Nagar (Mohali).


Rain is also possible at some places in Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala.

In Barnala, Mansa and Sangrur, light to moderate rain is expected at isolated places.

Yellow alert in 15 districts on September 17

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for 15 districts for Thursday, September 17.

Heavy rain along with thunderstorms and lightning is likely at isolated places in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Rupnagar and Fazilka.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also forecast at isolated places in Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib and SAS Nagar (Mohali).

Apart from these conditions, light to moderate rain has been forecast across all districts of Punjab.

No weather alert for September 18 and 19

No alert has been issued for September 18 and 19. However, the weather department has forecast light to moderate rain at many places in the state during these two days.

Bathinda recorded Punjab’s highest temperature

Punjab’s average maximum temperature rose by 0.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, although temperatures remained close to normal.

Bathinda Airport recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 36.5 degrees Celsius.
