Pune businessman’s secret trip with woman ends at Mumbai airport, fakes immigration problem to mislead wife

A 46-year-old Pune-based businessman allegedly fabricated a story about an immigration problem to mislead his wife after the woman accompanying him on an international trip was stopped at Mumbai airport over a passport-related issue.

The businessman had told his wife that he was travelling to Kuala Lumpur for work. However, he was allegedly travelling internationally with another woman.

Woman Stopped At Mumbai Airport Over Passport Issue

During immigration checks at Mumbai International Airport, officials reportedly found that the woman was carrying an old passport that she had previously declared lost.

With possible legal action arising from the passport issue, the businessman allegedly realised that his wife could discover that he was travelling with another woman, a police official said.

"After his woman friend was stopped by the immigration department, the businessman cancelled his journey, switched off his mobile phone, and went to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Central Railway's main station in south Mumbai, with her," the Sahar police station official said.

Businessman Tells Wife He Had To Surrender Phone

Before leaving the airport, the businessman allegedly called his wife using a landline and told her that he had to surrender his mobile phone because of an immigration issue, the official said.

"After a brief WhatsApp video call the next day to his wife where he reiterated his claim, the businessman's phone went unreachable. His wife approached police on Wednesday and a kidnapping FIR was registered based on her complaint," the official said.

The woman subsequently approached the police after she was unable to contact her husband and believed that he could have been in trouble.

Businessman Returns After Learning About FIR

On Wednesday night, the businessman went to the Sahar police station, which has jurisdiction over Mumbai's international airport, after learning that a kidnapping FIR had been registered.

During questioning, he allegedly admitted that the immigration problem he had described to his wife was fabricated.
