What began as a showcase of upcoming seasonal updates quickly transformed into a landmark event for the industry, as the presentation seamlessly shifted gears from localized gameplay deep-dives to earth-shattering franchise revivals. The air of anticipation reached a fever pitch when Santa Monica Studio took center stage.

Santa Monica Studio dominated the event by celebrating the franchise's 20th anniversary with two massive projects. First, they confirmed that a God of War Greek Trilogy Remake is officially in development, featuring a return from original voice actor TC Carson. While still in early stages, the project aims to bring the rage of Olympus to the PS5 with modern visuals. In a "one more thing" moment, they released God of War: Sons of Sparta today—a 2D "Metroidvania" style prequel following a young Kratos and his brother Deimos, featuring a canon story from the team behind Ragnarök.
