Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and social media personality Akriti Agarwal have decided to call off their engagement and part ways, with Agarwal confirming the news. The announcement comes around six months after the couple publicly revealed their engagement.

Taking to Instagram, Agarwal shared a statement announcing their separation. In an emotional note, she said the decision was mutual and came after the couple realised they had different goals and circumstances for the future. Despite the love and care they continue to have for each other, Agarwal said they have accepted that their paths are no longer meant to be together.

As much as we love and care for each other, we've come to accept that our paths are not meant to be together. With our responsibilities and the circumstances we are currently facing, we have mutually decided to go our separate ways.

I genuinely wish nothing but the best, peace, and happiness for both of us as we move forward.

Prithvi Shaw announced his engagement to Akriti Agarwal in March

On March 8, Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw shared a personal update with his fans and followers, announcing his engagement to social media personality and actor Akriti Agarwal. Shaw posted a series of pictures from the special moment, including one in which he was seen getting down on one knee and putting a ring on Agarwal’s finger, while another showed Agarwal returning the gesture.

Who is Prithvi Shaw’s fiancee Akriti Agarwal?

Akriti Agarwal is a Lucknow-born social media influencer and actor with more than 3 million followers on Instagram. She has worked in films, including Trimukha, and is known for her fashion, lifestyle and glamour-focused content on social media.

The couple had also been spotted together at the Mumbai wedding of Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok, where Shaw attended the celebrations.

Prithvi Shaw’s cricket career

Prithvi Shaw rose to prominence after making his Test debut for India in 2018 and scoring a century in his first match. However, his career since then has seen several ups and downs, with questions around fitness and form affecting his place in domestic and franchise cricket.

In 2024, Shaw was dropped from Mumbai’s squad, while his IPL fortunes also took a hit. He went unsold in the 2025 IPL auction before Delhi Capitals acquired him at his base price of Rs 75 lakh for the 2026 season.

At 26, Shaw is now marking a new personal milestone while continuing to work towards reviving his cricket career. Agarwal has frequently been seen supporting him, including from the stands during matches and at public events.

The couple’s engagement had drawn wishes from fans, friends and several cricketers, including former India opener Shikhar Dhawan.
