Noted singer and actor Prashant Tamang reportedly died due to a cardiac arrest on Sunday in Delhi, leaving his fans in a state of shock. According to an India Today report, Tamang was declared brought dead at a hospital in Dwarka, New Delhi, at approximately 9:00 AM on January 11 and had recently returned to Delhi after performing live in Arunachal Pradesh. As the news of Tamang's death broke out, fans and netizens rushed to his Instagram handle to check his last social media post. In his last Instagram post, Prashant Tamang shared a live post from Dubai in December 2025, which has now surfaced online, reminding fans of his talent and presence.

In his last social media post, Tamang can be seen performing at a live concert in Dubai with fans cheering for him. The clip shows a smiling Prashant singing for the crowd and bowing in front of them as a mark of gratitude. Prashant Tamang was born in Darjeeling, West Bengal, and rose to national prominence in 2007 when he won the third season of Indian Idol. He became the first contestant from the Northeast to claim the title. His victory was seen as a watershed moment for representation in mainstream Indian entertainment. Some of his popular songs were Man Sainli, Gorkha Paltan, and Asarai Mahinama.

In India, he was a part of the popular web series, Paatal Lok 2.

Prashant Tamang worked in Kolkata police too

After his father died in a tragic accident, Prashant Tamang also worked as a constable in the Kolkata Police, where he polished his music skills as part of the police orchestra, reports The Darjeeling Chronicle.
