Ponniyin Selvan is getting close to the Rs 500 crore benchmark with rave reviews everywhere. Currently, the global Ponniyin Selvan box office collection is Rs 464.09 crore.

The Mani Ratnam-directed Tamil historical epic Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 breaks every box office record. Even after three weeks of its release, the film continues to attract audiences to the theatre. The movie is adapted from Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel, and is based on the war succession of the Chola dynasty.

The action-thrilled movie which stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Trisha — continues to draw huge crowds to theatres.


Ponniyin Selvan Box Office Collection
Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade expert, has said that soon the movie will hit the Rs 500 crore benchmark. In the first week, the film has a Rs 308.59 crore collection. The second week’s collection was Rs 107.35 crore.

On the first day of the third week, the movie opened with Rs 6.76 crore, which increased to Rs 12.80 crore on the second day. The same week’s third-day collection was Rs 15.68 crore, the fourth day’s collection was Rs 5.07 crore, the fifth day’s collection was Rs 4.23 crore, and the sixth day’s collection was Rs 3.61 crore.

Although the box office collection is gradually decreasing, the total global collection till now is Rs 464.09 crore.

The movie has already become the second highest-grossing Tamil film worldwide after it crossed the lifetime earnings of Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, and Vijay Sethupati starrer Vikram at the global box office.

Ponniyin Selvan II or Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 will be released next year in 2023, as revealed in the closing credits.
