Police personnel walk the ramp in Tamil Nadu, 5 get transferred

A local modelling company organised a beauty pageant in in Sembanarkoil offering good openings in the modelling industry for the winners.

Five police personnel in Mayiladuthurai district of Tamil Nadu, including a Senior Sub Inspector, have been transferred to various other police stations for taking part in a beauty pageant, reports said.

This happened on July 31, when a local modelling company organised a beauty pageant in Sembanarkoil offering good openings in the modelling industry for the winners. A large number of people turned up to watch the show

A large number of people came to see the show, which was held for the first time in Mayiladuthurai district. Model and actor Yashika Anand was the chief guest of the programme.


Towards the end of the show, the organisers requested five police personnel from the local station who were on duty there - three women and two men - to walk the ramp.

The three walked the ramp to the beat of a song from Singam, the 2010 cop drama starring Suriya which was later remade in Hindi and Kannada,

Videos of the event spread on social media and soon there were people questioning why the five police personnel were walking the ramp in their uniform.

The Nagapattinam District Superintendent of Police then issued transfer orders to police personnel Renuka, Ashwini, Nithyaseela, Sivanesan and Special Assistant Inspector Subramanian, IANS reported.
