Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday gifted Swiss President Guy Parmelin with three award-winning Indian cheeses during their meeting in New Delhi.

The three cheeses gifted were Gulmarg, Konark and Yeoor.

Gulmarg: French-Style Brie


Gulmarg is a French-style Brie made from pasteurised cow’s milk. The soft, creamy cheese has a heart-shaped form and a snowy-white rind, along with earthy and mushroom-like flavour notes. The cheese received a Super Gold award at the 2026 Mundial do Queijo do Brasil, earning international recognition for its quality.

Konark: French Tomme-Style Cheese

Konark is a French Tomme-style cheese characterised by its rustic natural rind and supple texture. It offers earthy and savoury flavours with a distinctive lemony finish.

The cheese won Gold at the 2023 World Cheese Awards in Norway and later secured a Silver award in Switzerland in 2025.

Yeoor: Mountain-Style Cheese Inspired By Gruyère

Yeoor is an aged mountain-style cheese inspired by Swiss Gruyère. It is matured for around eight to nine months, allowing it to develop nutty, sweet and herbaceous flavours.

Its rind is decorated with rose petals and fennel, giving the cheese a distinctive Indian-Alpine character. It also has strong melting properties, making it suitable for dishes such as fondue and grilled preparations.

Indian Cheese Tradition Gets A Global Showcase

Switzerland is internationally recognised for its wide range of traditional cheeses. By presenting Gulmarg, Konark and Yeoor to the Swiss President, PM Modi showcased three Indian creations that combine international cheese-making influences with distinct Indian characteristics.

The gifts highlighted India's expanding artisanal cheese sector while adding a culinary dimension to the discussions between the two countries.
