The increase of covid cases in China has caused fear in neighbouring nations, particularly India. The Indian government has encouraged the people to follow basic corona-fighting practices. The District Health Information Officer in Agra has announced that the country's most popular tourist site, the Taj Mahal, has been placed on Alert.

The official further stated that no tourists would be permitted to access the Taj Mahal premises unless they had undergone Covid testing. Every day, a big number of domestic and foreign tourists visit Agra to see the Taj Mahal.

Keeping the scenario in mind, they will be required to do a Covid test prior to their arrival, according to government sources.

The central government has advised states to be watchful and promote awareness about wearing face masks, using hand sanitizers, and following social distance regulations. The Agra administration has also increased anti-Covid efforts, as the city attracts millions of tourists from India and throughout the world each year. For visitors to the renowned Taj Mahal, the administration has enforced Covid testing.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Thursday in the Lok Sabha that states should be on high alert for the coronavirus. According to him, the country receives an average of 153 cases every day, compared to the global average of 5.87 lakh cases. However, the virus's changing nature poses a worldwide hazard.

In light of the upcoming Christmas and New Year's celebrations, he believes states should focus on encouraging COVID-appropriate behaviours such as masks, handwashing, and respiratory best practices.
