Planetary Parade in February 2026
Skywatchers are in for a treat this month as six planets line up in what astronomers often call a "planetary parade." This rare celestial alignment will illuminate the evening sky, offering a spectacular sight shortly after sunset.

For a brief period, multiple planets from our solar system will appear clustered in the same region of the sky, creating a striking visual display for those who take the time to look up.

Best time to watch

According to a report by People.com, the alignment will unfold over the coming days, with one particular evening providing the clearest view. NASA states that the best opportunity to witness this celestial spectacle will be on Saturday, February 28th.

From now until the end of February, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will all be positioned in the same section of the sky. While some planets will be visible to the naked eye, others will require binoculars or a telescope.

Mercury and Venus will appear slightly higher above the horizon just after sunset, whereas Saturn will sit lower in the sky. A nearly full moon will also shine brightly during the event.

Visibility details

Planet visibility will begin soon after sunset but will be brief, especially for Mercury and Venus. In contrast, Jupiter will remain visible until later in the evening.

Observers will be able to spot six planets in total: Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Venus will stand out as the brightest and easiest to identify, glowing low in the western sky.

Clear weather and an unobstructed horizon will significantly enhance the viewing experience.

Viewing prospects in India

In India, cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Dehradun are expected to provide favorable viewing conditions, provided the skies remain clear.
