Amid the fluctuating global oil prices, the government has cut excise duty on petrol and diesel. Petrol prices in New Delhi on Saturday remained unchanged at Rs 94.77 per litre, while diesel is steady at Rs 87.67 per litre. Similarly, Mumbai sees petrol at Rs 103.54 per litre and diesel at Rs 90.03, with no change from yesterday.

Petrol, Diesel prices today in Indian cities
In a bid to protect consumers from rising global crude oil prices, the Centre has sharply reduced excise duty on fuel. The duty on petrol has been cut from Rs 13 to Rs 3 per litre, while it has been completely eliminated on diesel, down from Rs 10 per litre. This move is aimed at keeping retail fuel prices stable and shielding citizens from the direct impact of increasing global rates.The bulk rate for industrial diesel supplied to commercial users has been increased by Rs 21.92 per litre — about a 25% jump — while premium petrol prices have gone up by Rs 2 per litre.

Petrol, diesel prices: Premium petrol price hiked
Oil marketing companies have recently increased the prices of high-octane petrol variants such as XP95 and Power petrol by around Rs 2 to Rs 2.3 per litre. The revised rates have already come into effect at several fuel stations across India.At select outlets, Indian Oil Corporation’s XP95 is now priced at nearly Rs 101.80 per litre. Similarly, premium petrol variants sold by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited have also witnessed a price hike, making high-performance fuels more expensive for consumers.
