Petrol and diesel prices have remained stable across major Indian cities today, April 1, 2026, even as global crude oil benchmarks edged higher amid rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia. This comes as prices of commercial LPG were hiked by Rs 195.50 on Wednesday, April 1, on the back of surge in global crude oil prices linked to the escalating Middle East conflict. Moreover, the prices of Indian Oil Corporation’s premium fuels—XP100 petrol and Xtra Green diesel—have been increased in Delhi.

XP100 petrol is now priced at ₹160 per litre, up from ₹149. This 100-octane fuel is designed for high-end luxury cars and superbikes to enhance engine performance. Meanwhile, Xtra Green (premium diesel) now costs ₹92.99 per litre, compared to its earlier price of ₹91.49.

Petrol, Diesel prices today (April 1)

Petrol and diesel prices remained largely stable across major Indian cities, even as the global energy crisis deepened due to a near halt in trade through the vital Strait of Hormuz. In Delhi, petrol is still selling at Rs 94.77 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs 87.67 per litre. Rates are comparatively steeper in Mumbai, where petrol is being sold at Rs 103.54 per litre and diesel at about Rs 90.03 per litre.

The fuel rates have remained constant even as global oil markets continue to experience sharp volatility amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia. In the national capital, petrol is still selling at Rs 94.77 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs 87.67 per litre. Rates are comparatively steeper in Mumbai, where petrol is being sold at Rs 103.54 per litre and diesel at about Rs 90.03 per litre. With state elections approaching, the government may prefer to keep auto fuels under control.
