Pathaan: Shah Rukh Khan-starrer gets new directive from court, movie to premiere on Prime Video on this date

Ahead of its release, the Delhi High Court on Monday directed the makers of the Pathaan, Yash Raj Films to make some changes in the film for its OTT release. During the court proceedings, the film's release date on the OTT platform Prime Video has also been revealed.

Shah Rukh Khan's much-anticipated film Pathaan is all set to hit the big screens in just nine days. The action-thriller film will be released in theatres on January 25, 2023.

The Central Board of Film Certification has already approved the film. However, the movie has to be submitted once again to the CBFC in order to get its approval for streaming the film on Prime video on April 25, 2023.


As per the Bar & Bench, the producers of the film have been asked by the Delhi High Court to give hindi subtitles, closed captions as well as audio description for the OTT release of the film. The court has asked the producers to make a move in order to provide benefits to those with visual and hearing impairments.

Since the film will hit the theatres soon, the court noticed that at this stage it cannot give a go-ahead for the directions for the inclusion of audio description and other measures for theatrical release. However, the court passed directions for the film to premiere on the OTT platform on April 25, asking that once the producers have prepared the subtitle, then the CBFC can consider re-certification of the same by March 10.

With Pathaan's release, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen on the big screen after 4 years as the actor last appeared in the film Zero. Meanwhile, Pathaan also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead roles and the film has been directed by Siddharth Anand.
