Pathaan box office: Trade experts explain whether Shah Rukh Khan's movie will dominate South Indian Box Office

Trade experts have reasoned out whether 'Pathaan' movie releasing on January 25 can take over the South Indian theatres and affect the Box office collection of movies currently running in theatres. 'Pathaan' will be releasing on Wednesday in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Ramesh Bala, industry trade expert explained that 'Pathaan' is highly expected to get a good release in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as the movie is releasing in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi versions.

Bala said Tamil movies, 'Varisu' and 'Thunivu' have completed 2 weeks in theaters and have done extremely well at the box office, both grossing over Rs 200 crores on the 13th day of their release. He said that since both the movies have been running for 13 days, the audience will want to switch now to a new and much-expected movie, Pathaan.



Besides, huge fan-following of Shah Rukh Khan in Tamil Nadu and tremendous promotion of the movie in Chennai will also pull the audience to theatres. However, certain single screen theatres of Tamil Nadu have refused to screen Pathaan right now, as they believe that continued screening of Thunivu and Varisu will yield them better income.

Pathaan is expected to get a good opening in Nizamabad and Bengaluru as well, because of the high Hindi-speaking population in these places. Bala, however, noted that 'Pathaan' may not have a record-breaking collection on the first day since it’s releasing on a mid-week, but will surely gather momentum.
