A case was filed against an individual for allegedly uttering the word 'bomb' while undergoing luggage scanning at the international airport in the Kochi city.

The passenger, who was bound for Dubai and hailed from Alappuzha district, found himself in a predicament after he made a reference to a "bomb" within the airport complex on Tuesday.

The incident occurred as the man, set to board a flight to the Gulf nation, engaged in a verbal dispute with airport staff regarding the weight of his luggage.

Airport personnel repeatedly checked his baggage and informed him that it exceeded the allowed weight limit. Annoyed by the extensive security examination, the man sarcastically inquired whether there was a bomb in his luggage.

Following a report from airport authorities, local police registered a case against the man, who was charged under the relevant section of the Kerala Police Act. The police officer noted that it was a bailable offense.
