Video footage captured the moment the man punched the steward, causing him to fall to the floor. Witnessing the chaos, a passenger cited in the report described the man's aggressive behavior, stating that he was shouting and banging on the bathroom door until it broke off its hinges. An elderly passenger attempted to calm him down but ended up in a scuffle, resulting in the assault on the flight attendant. It was reported that the steward may have suffered a broken nose due to the altercation.
Concerned about the escalating situation, flight crew members warned passengers that the flight might be diverted to Dubai if the man did not cease his disruptive behavior. Fellow travelers had to step in to restrain him, with two passengers taking seats beside him to prevent further outbursts. The disruptive passenger continued to verbally abuse others onboard, prompting some passengers to switch seats and relocate children away from the commotion, the report said.
Upon landing, the Metropolitan Police met the aircraft and arrested the man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and endangering an aircraft. Another individual involved in the altercation was taken to the hospital for assessment, with his injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
