Actor Paresh Rawal has been summoned by the Kolkata Police for the remark he made by saying "cooking fish for Bengal". He was asked to appear at the Taltala police station on December 12 for the matter. The new development came after CPI(M) leader Mohammad Salim filed a police complaint over his remarks, say reports.

Paresh Rawal apologised for hurting people's feelings with his words after receiving backlash online during his election speech in Gujarat. He tweeted, "Gujaratis cook and eat fish So of course fish is not a problem. But let me be clear that by Bengali I mean illegal Bangladeshi N Rohingya. Nevertheless, if I hurt your feelings or sentiment , I apologise”

The controversy arose when Paresh Rawal said during his election speech in Gujarat,"Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis"??


He was last seen in the film ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ directed by Hitesh Bhatia. The actor will star in the upcoming action drama Shehzada alongside Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon. He is also part of 'Dream Girl 2' Directed by Raaj Shaandilya, under the banner Balaji Telefilms Limited He recently attended the 53rd International Film Festival (IFFI) in Goa.
