“The estimated cost is around Rs 50 lakhs for the wedding, including buying a car costing under Rs 10 lakhs around the same time. The problem is funding,” the man wrote.

His family has reportedly suggested that he take a Rs 45 lakh personal loan if his father cannot sell some family land. However, the man said the land is already tied up with bank loans.

“My family is suggesting that I take a Rs 45 lakh personal loan if my father is unable to sell some family land. The issue is that those lands are already tied up with bank loans,” he wrote.

He also said his father already has around Rs 50 lakh in existing debt and believes it can be cleared through the sale of the land, although there is no confirmed buyer at present.

The man's fiancée's family is comfortable with a simpler wedding at their home, with the total expenditure estimated at around Rs 15 lakh.

“On the other hand, my fiancee's family is okay to host a simple wedding at their place costing around Rs 15 lakhs total,” he said.
