Batting at No. 4 against Bengal in the semifinals, Dogra walked in with J&K struggling at 13/2. He built a crucial 50-run partnership with Abdul Samad, bringing up the landmark with the 11th run of his innings in his 147th Ranji Trophy match. Only Jaffer, who tops the all-time charts with 12,038 runs, had previously reached the milestone.
Dogra began his first-class career with Himachal Pradesh in 2001, scoring over 6,418 runs in 95 matches, including 19 centuries and 24 fifties, before moving to Puducherry in 2018, where he became the team’s first Ranji centurion. Ahead of the 2024-25 season, he joined Jammu & Kashmir as captain.
Approaching 500 runs this season, Dogra has guided J&K to their maiden Ranji semi-final. He holds the record for the most centuries among active players (33), second only to Jaffer’s 40, and is now the tournament’s second-most capped player behind Jaffer. Renowned for converting starts into big scores, Dogra has nine double hundreds, tied with Cheteshwar Pujara for the joint-highest in Ranji history.
