Pakistan’s Nur Khan airbase hit by Afghanistan: What we know about the strike on Rawalpindi base earlier targeted in India’s Op Sindoor
Nur Khan Airbase Attack today: Afghanistan's air force has struck Pakistani military sites including bases in Rawalpindi and Quetta. This action is a direct response to recent Pakistani aerial incursions. Tensions between the two nations are escal...

Kabul claims coordinated strikes on key Pakistani bases
In a statement posted on X, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense said its air force hit several Pakistani military sites in a single operation. The targets included Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, the 12th Division headquarters in Quetta (Balochistan), and the Khwazai Camp in Mohmand Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with “several other significant Pakistani military facilities and command centers.”“Based on preliminary assessments, the strikes successfully caused significant damage to the intended targets. These operations were carried out in response to the recent aerial incursions by the Pakistani military, which struck Kabul, Bagram,” the ministry said.
The statement also warned that any further violations of Afghan airspace or “acts of aggression” by Pakistan would be met with “a swift, decisive, and proportionate response.”
Nur Khan Base earlier targeted during India’s Operation Sindoor
The Nur Khan Airbase, a key Pakistan Air Force installation near Rawalpindi, had previously come under attack during India’s Operation Sindoor in May 2025. That strike had damaged select facilities at the base, after which repair and restoration work was reported at the site. With Afghanistan now naming the same base among its latest targets, the installation has returned to focus amid the widening regional tensions.
Pakistan-Afghanistan War
The latest claim comes within days of a sharp escalation between Afghanistan and Pakistan along their shared border. Islamabad had declared “open war” on the Afghan Taliban government after renewed clashes between border forces.Pakistan conducted air strikes on Kabul and Kandahar on Friday, hours after Afghan forces attacked Pakistani border troops in retaliation to earlier bombing runs. The exchange has triggered a fast-moving cycle of retaliation between the two sides.
As of now, Pakistan has not confirmed Afghanistan’s claim of strikes on its military installations, including the Nur Khan Airbase. There has been no official word from Islamabad on possible damage or casualties.
