Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif causes controversy by snatching umbrella from his officer in Paris

Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has sparked controversy after forcefully taking an umbrella from a protocol officer during a heavy downpour in Paris. The incident occurred as Sharif arrived at the Elysee Palace for the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact.

The incident went viral on the internet after a video was captured and shared showing Prime Minister Sharif snatching the umbrella from the officer who had graciously offered it to him as she escorted him to the entrance of the Elysee Palace.

In the heavy French downpour, the officer was soaked wet because of Sharif's actions, as well as having to keep up with her responsibilities as a bureaucrat.



The incident took place before the Global Financing Summit commenced, indicating a lack of basic courtesy from the Pakistani prime minister. However, the protocol officer has not addressed the issue on social media or any other platform.

The video, posted on Twitter by the account of the Pakistan Muslim League (@pmln_org), attracted attention and sparked humorous responses from users. Some users likened Sharif's actions to previous incidents, jokingly referencing past controversies. One user humorously commented on the incident's resemblance to a Mr. Bean episode, while another playfully stated that Sharif "stole" the umbrella.

The Paris summit, which began on Thursday, involves leaders from over 300 countries discussing climate change-related financing issues. The event features six roundtable discussions focusing on topics such as international financial architecture, confidence restoration, partnership strategies, and creating an enabling environment for the private sector.

While the summit aims to address significant global issues, the attention has temporarily shifted to Shehbaz Sharif's conduct and the implications of his actions during the protocol officer incident.
