Noida police have alleged that two social media accounts on X, operated from Pakistan, played a major role in escalating the April 13 labour protest into violence by spreading false information about multiple deaths during the demonstrations, as per TOI. The accounts — “Anushi Tiwari (Proud Indian)” and “Meer Ilyas Inc” — allegedly posted claims designed to provoke workers demanding wage parity with neighbouring Haryana. Police said information received from X confirmed that both accounts were being run from Pakistan using VPNs. An FIR has been registered at Sector 20 police station.

On-ground mobilisation group for Noida protests

Police are simultaneously probing the role of a group called ‘Mazdoor Bigul Dasta’, as per TOI. Three individuals — Rupeesh Roy, Manisha Chauhan and Aditya Anand — are suspected of creating multiple WhatsApp groups on April 10 around 2 am using QR codes. Each group rapidly added over 800 members, mostly workers from major industrial units such as Motherson and Richa Industries. These groups were formed shortly after Haryana announced a 35% hike in minimum wages, triggering similar demands in Uttar Pradesh.

Noida protests key accused and their background

Rupeesh Roy and Manisha Chauhan were arrested on April 11. Aditya Anand, a BTech graduate from NIT Jamshedpur and resident of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, remains absconding. Police told TOI that Anand had previously been involved in mobilising protesters during the anti-CAA/NRC agitation. Roy was also allegedly linked to the earlier Manesar labour protest that preceded Haryana’s wage hike decision.

Police Commissioner’s statement

Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh described the violence to TOI as a “coordinated attempt” to disturb law and order, combining online misinformation with on-ground mobilisation. So far, 13 FIRs have been registered and 62 accused have been sent to judicial custody. Police have not ruled out invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against some of the accused. The protests began on April 10 when workers from various industrial sectors came out on the streets seeking pay parity with their Haryana counterparts.
