Addressing the ceremony, Field Marshal Munir warned: “Our enemies should know that if any attempt is made in the future to carry out a misadventure against Pakistan, then the impact of war would not be limited, but extremely widespread, dangerous, far-reaching and painful.”

Asim Munir alleged that the “enemy made a failed attempt to test our resolve by violating the sovereignty and territory” of Pakistan from the midnight of May 6/7 till May 10. He asserted this was responded to “with full national unity and military force”.
Munir issued the threat while attending the first-year anniversary of 'Marka-e-Haq', a name given by Islamabad to the four-day conflict with India. Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf were also in attendance.
However, this was not the first time Munir had issued warnings directed at New Delhi over the past year. In December, shortly after being appointed Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), he cautioned India against any “delusion” regarding Pakistan’s military preparedness, asserting that any response would be “swifter, more severe, and more intense.” He further escalated his remarks by stating that Indian infrastructure and dams on the Indus River could be targeted.
Battle between two ideologies
“Marka-i-Haq was not merely a traditional war fought between two countries or militaries, but in reality, it was a decisive marka (battle) between two ideologies, in which, thanks to Allah, the truth won and falsehood was met with defeat,” Munir said at the gathering.Munir alleged that India "violated the sovereignty and territory" of Pakistan between the night of May 6-7 and May 10 last year, and said Pakistan responded "with full national unity and military force".
“The false flag operations of 2001, 2008, 2016 and 2019 are a testament that even in the past, India has made failed attempts to impose an illegitimate war on Pakistan and […] achieve narrow-minded, long-term political and military objectives through allegations, exaggeration, warmongering and misleading imagination of limited aggression,” CDF Munir said.
Pakistan struck 26 targets
During the speech, he claimed that Pakistan had struck 26 targets during the conflict without providing any evidence in his support. He also claimed that India had sought a ceasefire through the US and that Pakistan agreed to it "in the interest of peace".Munir said Pakistan is preparing for conflicts through technology, hardware and training. "Our defence will remain impeccable. We want peace and will maintain it through credible deterrence," he said, highlighting Pakistan's military modernisation, including Hangor-class submarines, a new Rocket Force and fighter aircraft acquisitions.
What is Operation Sindoor?
In response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in April 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 last year, carrying out airstrikes on nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) that eliminated at least 100 terrorists. The strikes triggered a rapid escalation in tensions, with Pakistan launching retaliatory strikes, though most of them were thwarted by the Indian military. The hostilities ended with an understanding on halting the military actions on May 10 following talks over the hotline between Army officers from the two sides. On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, India has reaffirmed its right to defend itself against Pakistan-backed cross-border terrorism while vowing to further strengthen the global fight against the menace.
