The Oscars 2023 will be held on March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Find out more about its nomination and selection processes.

As the anticipation builds for this year's event, many are curious about how the voting process for the awards takes place. So, here is a detailed look at the nomination, voting, and winner selection procedures:
Nomination process for Oscars 2023
The Oscars 2023 nominations were announced on January 24, 2023. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which has more than 10,000 members spread over 17 branches, determines the winners and nominations.
These branches include actors, cinematographers, casting directors, costume designers, designers, directors, make-up artists, hair stylists, executives, film editors, music producers, sound, visual effects, public relations, documentaries, short films, feature animation, and writers.
Except for "Best Film," which is chosen by all members who may vote, the branches choose the nominees from their own branches.
The voting process for the Oscars 2023
All Academy members are able to vote in every category for the final voting for the Oscars in 2023, which is also done online. Each member is allowed one vote per category.
To choose the winner for the best picture award, academy members must rate all the nominated films from most to least liked.
Winner selection process
The process of selecting the Oscar winners is shrouded in secrecy to prevent any leaks or potential spoilers. Even during the broadcast, the envelopes containing the winners' names are opened on stage to keep the results confidential.
Notably, only two representatives from the voting company, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), had access to the results prior to the ceremony. This ensures that the results remain a surprise for everyone, including nominees and presenters.
