Oscar 2023: Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara' eyes for Oscar nomination, hopes to follow in 'RRR' s footsteps
Kanatara's producers hope to emulate the success of RRR's producers by receiving an Oscar nomination in 2023.

“Kantara”, directed and starring Rishab Shetty, depicts the narrative of the link between trees and humans. Aside from Rishab, the film also has Kishore, Sapthami Gowda, and Achyuth Kumar in key parts. So far, the film has grossed more than 400 crores at the global box office.
Vijay stated "We have filed our application for Oscars 2023 for Kantara and have our fingers crossed”, "Kantara is such a deep narrative that we think it may attract a global audience as well". He also confirmed Kantara 2's plans, revealing that they must determine whether it would be a prequel or a sequel to the original film.
Earlier, SS Rajamouli submitted “RRR” to the Oscars, and on Thursday, the Academy announced a list of the names that had been shortlisted in the ten categories. The lively song “Naatu Naatu” from the Jr NTR and Ram Charan film entered the shortlist. Even India's official Oscar entry, “The Last Film Show”, was shortlisted in the 'International Feature Film' category.
The final nomination will be announced on January 24. The voting period will last from January 12 through January 17. The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12 at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre.
