Once earned Rs 250, now makes Rs 90,000: Delhi lassi seller who started working at 11 builds dream home after years of struggle

A Delhi lassi seller’s emotional life story is touching hearts online after he spoke about losing his father at a young age, growing up without a permanent home and eventually working his way towards building a house for his family in Uttar Pradesh.

The man shared his journey during a street interview with digital creator Upen Verma. What began as a casual conversation soon became a moving account of hardship, responsibility, perseverance and years of relentless work.

Verma later posted the interaction on Instagram and described it as one of the most memorable conversations he had captured. “Real stories > Motivation,” he wrote. “This was just a random conversation but turned out to be real motivational lesson for me.”

His One Wish Was To Bring His Father Back

During the conversation, Verma asked the lassi seller what he would ask God for if he were granted one wish. His response was deeply emotional.

“My father's life,” he replied.

He recalled losing his father when he was still young. The family was already struggling financially and did not even have a house of their own at the time.

“I have been working hard since I was 11 years old. When my father passed away, we didn't even have a house to live in,” he said.

He Started Working At Just 11

After his father’s death, the young boy had to take on responsibilities much earlier than most children. With no one else to shoulder the burden, he began working and gradually became a key source of support for his family.

Over the years, he helped arrange marriages for his siblings and eventually built a family of his own. Despite everything he accomplished, one dream continued to hold special meaning for him — owning a home for his family.

From Having No Home To Building One

Years of hard work eventually changed his circumstances. The lassi seller told Verma that he now earns between Rs 80,000 and Rs 90,000 every month and has managed to build a house.

“Now, by the grace of God, I am earning well. I earn Rs. 80-90,000 a month. Today… I built this house,” he told Verma.

For someone who had once struggled to have a roof over his family’s head, owning a home represented far more than financial success. It was the result of years of sacrifice and determination.

His Message Was Simple: Keep Working Hard

When Verma asked what he would say to people who feel that their lives will never improve, the man offered a straightforward message rather than a complicated motivational speech.

“There is nothing like that, my friends. Work hard,” he said. “If you don't stop working hard, God is there to bless you. One day, you will become a great man.”
