Oakley, Meta roll out AI-powered performance glasses for athletes: Check features, price and more

Oakley and Meta have launched the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a new pair of AI-powered performance glasses aimed at serious athletes and fitness enthusiasts, as smart wearables move beyond lifestyle use into training and competition.

Built for high-intensity sports such as running, cycling and skiing, the glasses combine Oakley’s sports eyewear design with Meta’s AI features. They come with a hands-free camera, open-ear audio, fitness tracking integrations and voice-enabled Meta AI, including support for Hindi.

The Oakley Meta Vanguard features a 12MP ultra-wide camera that records up to 3K video, allowing users to capture workouts and races from their own point of view without touching a button. The glasses also support slow motion, hyperlapse and video stabilisation for post-workout review or social sharing.


For training, the glasses sync with Garmin and other fitness apps, letting users check metrics such as heart rate and pace through voice commands like “Hey Meta, how am I doing?” Visual indicators in the frame also show whether users are on track with their goals, without breaking their stride.

Designed for outdoor use, the glasses carry an IP67 dust and water resistance rating and are built to work with cycling helmets and caps. Oakley’s PRIZM lens technology enhances contrast and colour while protecting against sun, wind and debris.

Battery life is rated at up to nine hours, with the charging case adding another 36 hours. A quick charge delivers 50% battery in about 20 minutes.

Meta AI on the glasses supports Hindi voice interactions, including calls, messages, media controls and UPI Lite payments. Actor Deepika Padukone has also been added as a celebrity voice option for the AI assistant.

The Oakley Meta Vanguard is available in four frame and lens combinations at optical stores, Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters, with prices starting at Rs 52,300.
