'O Romeo' OTT release date: When and where to watch Tripti Dimri and Shahid Kapoor starrer movie based on Mumbai don Hussain Ustara?

Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film ‘O Romeo’, starring Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri as the lead characters, has scored a big legal win as the Bombay City Civil Court has dismissed a legal challenge seeking to restrain the release of the movie. The court rejected the interim relief sought by the daughter of late gangster Hussain Ustara, who claimed that the project was based on her father's life. 'O Romeo's OTT release is likely to happen on Amazon Prime Video, according to the official poster unveiled by Shahid Kapoor on his official Instagram handle. Following the standard theatrical window which is expected to be around 45–60 days, the film will make its digital debut. 'O'Romeo' marks fourth collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bharadwaj after 'Kaminey', 'Haider' and 'Rangoon'.

O Romeo trailer: What is the story all about?

The trailer of Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri’s upcoming actioner, O’Romeo was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Apart from Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri, the film also stars Avinash Tiwary, Nana Patekar, Farida Jalal, Disha Patani and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles.

The trailer of O Romeo shows Shahid Kapoor playing the role of fierce, tattoo-covered contract killer and gang leader. The story revolves around his relationship with Afsha, portrayed by Triptii Dimri, who initially turns to him for help, setting off a dark, obsessive, and ultimately tragic love story. Beyond the romance, the film shows him entangled between rival gangs while grappling with his own moral dilemmas. Rumours suggest the film draws from the story of Hussain Ustara in Hussain Zaidi's book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’.

‘O’Romeo’ hits theaters on February 13, clashing with Bejoy Nambiar’s ‘Tu Yaa Main’ starring Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav. The film also features a strong ensemble cast including, Avinash Tiwary, Farida Jalal, Vikrant Massey, Nana Patekar, Tamannaah Bhatia and Disha Patani.

‘O Romeo’ is a gangster drama, and its teaser hints at a gritty, action-packed narrative blending violence and romance, though the storyline remains largely under wraps. Shahid Kapoor appears in the role of a gunman in the film.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, "O'Romeo" is based on Hussain Zaidi's novel "Mafia Queens of Mumbai". Set against the backdrop of Mumbai's underworld, the project follows the story of Hussain Ustara, a raw, and emotionally conflicted gangster.
