The man, identified by Newsweek quoting local news sources as Amin Sa'les, is a local model from the north-western Iranian city of Tabriz.

A video that is now going viral on social media platforms shows him at a religious function in Iran on the mourning day of Ashura.


Sa'les apparently is very conscious of the fact that he looks a lot like the Hollywood star - he sports an identical hairstyle and goatee, and his eyes smoulder through those shades.

And, of course, people on social media not just by people in Iran, but also those in the West, that he is Depp's doppelganger. On an Instagram account which possibly belongs to him, one person commented ," No one was supposed to look so much like Johnny Depp." "Do a heavy makeup like Johnny Dep," suggested another user offering a tip on how to look like Captain Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Carribean'.
