Now, a temple dedicated to CM Yogi Adityanath near Ayodhya

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has joined the list of political leaders and celebrities who has a temple built in their honour.

The temple on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway in Bhadarsa village has an idol of the chief minister which shows him carrying a bow and arrow, IANS reported

An 'aarti' is performed every evening at the temple, which is 25 kms away from the pilgrim town of Ayodhya. It is located near the Bharat Kund, the place from where King Bharat was believed to have ruled when his brother Lord Ram was in exile.


"Yogi Adityanath has built the Ram temple for us and I have built this temple for him," the agency report quoted the temple maker Prabhakar Maurya as saying.

Maurya is a 32-year-old who has described himself in a report in The Week as a ‘Yogi pracharak’ (Yogi publicist) and Youtuber who has created numerous songs for the party.

The report said two sculptors , one from Barabanki and another from Rajasthan, were roped in to make the idol.

Across the years, there have been other temples dedicated to different celebrities and political leaders across the country.

There has been a temple dedicated to former Tamil Nadu chief minister and cine superstar MG Ramachandran (MGR) in Chennai.

In Trichy, a temple was by the fans of Tamil actress Kushbu Sundar, who later joined politics and worked with the Congress and DMK before joining the BJP.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is worshipped in a temple in South Kolkata, which has his photos along with an idol.

There is a temple in Telangana built in honour of Congress president Sonia Gandhi by the party leaders there to show their love and devotion.

And in 2015, a temple was dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a village near Gujarat's Rajkot by a group of BJP supporters.
