Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has sharply criticised Pakistan players Shahibzada Farhan and Harris Rauf for their on-field celebrations during the recent Asia Cup Super 4s match against India. Farhan drew attention after his gunshot celebration on reaching fifty runs, while Rauf signalled six fingers to the crowd, seemingly referencing Pakistan’s cricketing record against India. However, both gestures sparked debate among experts and fans after India secured a six-wicket win.

Chopra mocked Farhan for celebrating despite a relatively low strike rate. Sharing a video on his X handle, he wrote:

"This celebration, with a strike rate of 129? Last time against India, you couldn’t even score a run a ball. Now the strike rate is just 129. The world is flying Rafael, and you’re flying a kite and celebrating."

Rauf’s actions also drew criticism. During India’s chase, he made a hand gesture mimicking a plane taking off and landing when the crowd booed him. Chopra commented on the gesture, saying:

"Harris’ plane takes off and falls. Everyone asked in Melbourne – is that a bird, or a plane? Then that plane landed. Where? Near the sight screen as Kohli hit that brilliant shot. You must remember!"

Rauf later signalled “6-0” to the crowd, which Chopra pointed out was inaccurate, citing India’s winning record against Pakistan in recent T20Is and ODI World Cups. He added:

"And it’s not 6-0. Come on, man, improve your math! It’s actually 7-0 because India have won the last T20 Internationals against Pakistan. It’d even be fine if you say 8-0 because of the ICC ODI World Cup matches, India-8, Pakistan-0. Thank god this match was being telecast live, or else you’d have claimed a victory in this too."

Haris Rauf Controversial Gesture

Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf grabbed attention both on and off the field during Sunday’s Asia Cup Super Fours clash in Dubai, thanks to a controversial gesture aimed at Indian fans. Stationed near the boundary in the second innings, Rauf raised his fingers to signal “0-6”. The act quickly went viral on social media and drew sharp criticism from Indian supporters.

The 31-year-old faced taunts from fans chanting “Virat Kohli,” even though the star batter was not part of the match, having retired from the format last year. The chants recalled the famous 2022 T20 World Cup clash at Melbourne, where Kohli played a memorable “emperor’s shot” followed by another six to help India secure a dramatic win over Pakistan. Rauf was also involved in a heated moment with India opener Abhishek Sharma after the fifth over, which required umpire intervention to separate the two players.
