Noida Road Accident: Wipro Engineer Critical After Bike Hits Stray Bull in Sector 168, Civic Lapses Under Scanner
A 29-year-old software engineer is battling critical brain injuries after his motorcycle collided with a stray bull on a busy arterial stretch in Noida’s Sector 168, an incident that has once again highlighted the growing menace of free-roaming cattle on city roads.

According to a report by The Times of India (TOI), the crash has raised serious concerns over road safety, civic enforcement and the risks faced by daily commuters navigating high-speed corridors.

Noida Road Accident in Sector 168: How the Incident Happened

Prakhar Bhardwaj, an employee with Wipro who recently relocated from Bengaluru, was returning home from his office in Greater Noida at around 6:50 pm on Tuesday when the accident occurred.

CCTV footage shows Bhardwaj riding along the stretch when his motorcycle suddenly struck a bull walking near the median verge. The collision threw him into the opposite lane, while the bike skidded away across the road.

Family members said he was riding cautiously and wearing a helmet at the time.

Software Engineer Suffers Severe Brain Injuries After Collision

After the crash, Bhardwaj lay injured on the road for nearly 20 minutes before help arrived. An eyewitness and an auto driver eventually transported him to a nearby private hospital in Noida.

Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later shifted to a specialised medical facility in Delhi.

Doctors confirmed:
  • Severe brain trauma
  • Serious injury to the right eye
  • Additional head damage caused by shattered spectacles

Although he regained consciousness on Thursday, his condition remains critical.

Dr DK Gupta, chairman of Felix Hospital, said he was referred almost immediately to a higher centre after initial stabilisation.

Family Claims Stray Bull Panicked and Charged

In a social media post, his cousin alleged that the bull appeared startled and attacked, knocking Bhardwaj off balance.

The family later collected CCTV footage from a nearby residential society to understand the sequence of events.

Police officials stated that no formal complaint has been filed yet, though the incident is being examined.

Stray Cattle Menace in Noida: Growing Threat to Motorists

Residents say such accidents are becoming alarmingly common.

Stray cattle are frequently spotted on:
  • The Noida elevated road
  • Sector 168 carriageways
  • Markets and feeding zones in Sectors 76, 75, 78 and 62
Locals claim repeated complaints to civic authorities have produced only temporary solutions.

A traffic volunteer from Sector 78 said informal feeding points and cattle abandonment are worsening the situation.

“Without proper fencing and sustained enforcement, more accidents are inevitable,” he said.

Civic Data Highlights Scale of the Problem

District administration figures reveal the magnitude of the issue:
  • 19 gaushalas in the district
  • Capacity for 13,000 cattle
  • Nearly 10,000 stray animals currently housed
  • Over 64,000 cattle owned by villagers

Officials admit many so-called stray animals are actually owned cattle released during the day due to lack of grazing land. Even after impoundment, owners often reclaim them, allowing the cycle to continue.

Road Safety Experts Warn of High-Speed Corridor Risks

Urban planners and traffic safety experts have repeatedly warned that stray animals on arterial roads significantly increase crash risks, particularly during peak hours and low-visibility conditions.

Despite periodic drives by civic agencies, enforcement is described as sporadic and short-lived.

For daily commuters, this means constantly swerving around cattle, a hazard that can turn fatal in seconds.

Growing Calls for Stronger Enforcement and Infrastructure

Residents are now demanding:
  • Permanent fencing along arterial roads
  • Strict penalties for cattle abandonment
  • Regular impoundment drives
  • Dedicated animal shelters
  • Faster emergency response systems

Without sustained action, experts warn that similar tragedies could continue.
