The physical tragedy was compounded by what the family describes as a "harrowing night" of police apathy. After the victim failed to return home late at night and his phone became unreachable, his relatives spent the entire night searching for him. They claim to have visited nearly a dozen police stations across West Delhi, pleading for information, only to be met with vague responses. The incident has sparked outrage as initial reports suggest the area lacked adequate barricading or warning signage. While a senior police officer claimed the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) site was "properly barricaded," photos from the scene showing the bike deep inside the pit have led the family to accuse the department of gross negligence. Police have registered a case and are currently investigating the exact sequence of events to "fix responsibility." The family is demanding strict action against the officials whose failure to ensure road safety led to the fatal fall. Delhi government also took cognisance of the incident after Kamal Dhyan, bike rider, died after falling into a deep pit by the Delhi Jal Board for repair work. Delhi Urban Development Minister is set to inspect the site tomorrow, on 7th February, 2026.
