Mayank Arya, CEO and co-founder of YesMadam, recently wrote on LinkedIn about why he won’t choose business class for family travel again. Arya shared details of a recent trip where he flew with his children in business class, expecting a comfortable and premium experience. While the seats were spacious and the service was better, he realised something important was missing, connection and shared moments.

Luxury came with distance, not closeness

In the post, Arya explained that the comfort of business class came at the cost of warmth and togetherness. Since the seats were far apart, the children could not sit close, talk freely, or enjoy the usual banter of a family journey.

“As a father, it’s not just about giving your kids comfort. It’s about giving them the right values,” Arya wrote.

He added that children need to experience both comfort and struggle to build aspirations.

“Struggle bhi dikhani hai, aspiration bhi jagani hai. Business class tabhi jab woh khud afford karein. Not just because Papa could,” he added.

Online response: 'Heart space matters more'

The post went viral, striking a chord with many parents. Commenters shared similar views about parenting, bonding, and the value of small moments over luxury.

@Kunal Garg wrote, “Not everything premium is better. Sometimes it’s just… distant.”

@Siddharth Oswal commented, “Couldn’t agree more! Been there, done that—and honestly, the real fun (and bonding) is in economy. Leg space kam hota hai, par heart space zyada.”

@Rijul Udaypure added, “The best part of travel is togetherness—this reminds us why.”

Several users called it one of the most honest reflections on parenting they had seen in recent times.
