Nissan Tekton: Meaning behind the name

The name “Tekton” comes from Greek, meaning “craftsman” or “architect.” Nissan said the name reflects precision engineering, performance, premium quality, and a distinct SUV identity for buyers shaping their careers, lifestyle, or passions.

Nissan Tekton: Design cues from Nissan Patrol

Nissan said the Tekton’s design is inspired by its flagship Patrol SUV. The front features V-motion grille, split headlamps with vertical LED clusters, and C-shaped daytime running lights. The bumper is boldly designed, and the 'TEKTON' motif appears on the bonnet, similar to Land Rover SUVs.

Muscular bumpers and prominent wheel arches give it a robust stance. From the side, the SUV displays strong proportions and a bold silhouette, with a subtle “Double-C” motif on the front doors inspired by the Himalayas. At the rear, a full-width LED tail-light bar, squared tail lamps, rear spoiler, high-mounted brake lamp, and large alloy wheels enhance its premium appearance.

On the sides, the Tekton has flared wheel arches and an upright profile. The rear door handles are positioned on the pillar instead of the usual location. The rear fascia has a bold look, and the taillamps resemble those of the Patrol.

Nissan Tekton: Platform and powertrain

The Tekton is built on the CMF-B platform, also used by the upcoming Renault Duster. For India, it is expected to offer petrol and hybrid engines, with hybrid likely limited to higher trims. Top-spec models may feature all-wheel drive, highlighting the SUV’s versatility.

Part of Nissan’s broader India strategy

The Tekton is a key part of Nissan Motor India’s growth plans. The company also plans a sub-4 metre MPV in early 2026 and a 7-seater SUV based on the Renault Bigster platform in early 2027. To support these launches, Nissan plans to expand its dealership network from 160 to 180 outlets nationwide this year.
